Hi, I've started the replacement of the fork oil seal on my daughter's NC30 and for the life of me I can't undo the damper rod bolt. I've also managed to round the edges of one of them.
Is there an easier way that I haven't found in the manual, or can I do it without complete disassembly.

You need weight on the spring to get it undone. That and if its being stubbon, a long breaker bar.

A rattle gun, probably more professionally known as an Impact Wrench, is the best way. Got a local friendly garage? They should have one and it'll probably be the only way you'll get the rounded off one undone now. If not then lots of weight on the spring sometimes helps. Also, if you can, get some localised heat on it first to help undo the thread-locking compounds' effect.

It is the only way! I won't even attempt the job now without one, it just ends in heartbreak and misery (otherwise known as Mort throwing shit across the shed).

If you have already irreparably rounded the bolt, then it's too late, unless you can bash a suitable size torx bit in to it. There's no chance to slot it as no access for a hacksaw blade. If this is the case then drill it out, VERY carefully, and replace with an OE bolt.

Thanks guys, I have a battery impact gun but no socket allen keys so I've just ordered some and will let you know how I get on when they arrive.

drill it out, it's easy, took me 5 mins to do mine. just be careful as soon as you break through the bolt head then you're into the fork leg and hence the sealing surface. new bolt and it's all fine.

Got the long socket allen keys and they made all the difference.

Nice tight fit but the impact wrench wasn't powerful enough, but released it with a large T bar.
