NC30 Tyres

Hi, I am looking to fit new rubber ready for the summer season (been way too long coming!). I have always used Bridgstones but like the look of Dunlop's Alfa 10's has anyone tried these yet andif so what's your thoughts??

I'm not looking for mileage I just want GRRIIIIIPPPPP!!!!!!!

Alpha 10's are great tyres and better than bt090's IMO but good luck in finding a set now, they were discontinued a while back.

I've just bought a Bridgestone BT014 for rear wheel and found it sticks extremely well. Having a fair bit of fun with it.

I ran 014's on my previous nc30 and found them spot on, only heads up is they cooled very quickly (i.e. stopping for a pot of tea) so would recommend doing a couple of miles before expecting full grip again, enjoy!

Aye, this is because they are not a H rated tyre - which a 400 really should be using unless on track.

The 014 is also a few generations old - got to be a good 4 or 5 years old now?

Final snippet is that they only come in a 160/60/18 -which is not the right profile and is, IMO, too balloon like.

The DOT code on the tyre wall will tell you when it was manufacturerd.

Honda / Ford and few other mfg's don't recommend fitting tyres over 6 years old due to degredation of the tyre rubber.

Personal choice of course.. I've ridden an old moped with 20 year old tyres but I wasn't doing any extreeme manouvering (and they were hard as cast iron!)

Never fitted any NOS tyres that were really old to a sports bike before but think I would be a little worried they might not be 100% if they were too old
