i know its a bit of a long shot... but....

would anyone be kind enough to breifly loan me the use of a chain riveter in exchange for MASSIVE amounts of good karma (and also a fiver ill slip into the jiffy bag) at all? just need to sort the chain and then im back on the tarmac. figures, never come across a chain that didnt have a clip link untill now.
im in Hainault, Essex if anyones close enough... tea and biscuits will be supplied of course.

again, i know its a long shot- but worth a try.
Thanks all!

are you dead against using a split link (clip link)? some on here are against using one whilst just as many use them without issue..
it makes removing/cleaning the chain a doddle :)

each to their own yeah, but for all those that say use rivet, the same amount say split link.. i wouldn't use one JUST for convenience.. but after reading all the posts on here and the members that do, i decided to use a split link.

Mate, why don't you use a split link and wobble to your nearest bike shop and get it riveted on.

@hardnut im just picky i guess. plus, fate needs no tempting in my life.

@ibby lol, classic. im just being tight (skint) should really cough up the moolah and buy myself a riveter.

I've got a whale riveter mate they are so heavy it will cost a fiver to post and a fiver to get it back to me.

It would be cheaper to buy a split link and ride it to the garage and borrow their riveter

hello get ablock of wood behind the chain link that needs riveting and twat it with a 1/4 icnch extension bar or similair size and bray the rivet head over .....if you do it properly the rivet link will be safe as houses ....just don't hit it too much otherwise you will end up with a tight link in the chain mate....best of luck
p.s i would never use achain with a split link on a bike like this .....you are just asking for trouble
