MOT tester got it wrong

I had my 1984 GK91B tested last week and it failed on a stop signal not working with front brake. Did some research on this and it turns out that pre 86 only one of the brakes have to activate the brake light, not both. I phoned the station and their only tester was now out of the country until after the retest date so I am going to have to go elsewhere and pay full again if I want to make the most of this spell of good riding weather.

Print off the legislation and take the failure sheet back to the garage and demand a refund. Then take all the details elsewhere and get it mot'd.

I would think that if it were ever imported to the UK officially it would have to have both brakes with a switch to meet type approval. I'm sure all bikes would need a brake light switch front & rear.
You might be able to ad a switch if the wiring is already there.

They do. The one only rule doesn't apply to imports.
