NC23 Won't Start

Hi

I'm pretty new here, would love the help of your experience and wisdom!

A friend and I are currently working on an NC23 he picked up as a first bike a couple of weeks ago.

She has ran briefly on the day we collected her, but not very well as it had been sat for a year or so.

Since then we have changed the plugs oil and filter and fitted a new battery as the old one wasn't holding it's charge.

She turns over fine but won't start.

There didn't appear to be any fuel coming from the pump, so we tested the pump by removing the relay and shorting the connector out as stated in the Haynes manual, the pump runs fine. We then replaced the relay but the situation didn't improve.

Should I expect to see the pump run whilst turning the bike over if the relay is fine?

I then checked for a spark on two of the plugs and there isn't one.

What's the most likely cause do we think for the lack of spark. Could the pump not running be down to the lack of spark?

Thanks so much for listening! :)

I had a similar thing, no spark after it had been running and I had messed about with the carbs. Turned out I had mistakenly knocked an electrical connection, between tank and seat unit
, I just clicked it back together and it went fine after.

Quick update, after getting some parts from the NC23 sewelly1989 is breaking, it turns out the CDI was screwed!

Seems to start just fine now.

Waiting new throttle cable then I will put her back together properly, and run all redex out of the engine, but first impressions are she runs much better now. :)
