mot due next week and i got a couple of jobs need doing

1st - chain & sprockets, i have a 520 conversion with (i think) 54t and 14t sprockets, but i'll check when i strip it down later this week

2nd - wheel bearings, the fronts need doing and whilst iv'e got the rear apart i might as well do them as well ;)

so to the questions

iv'e seen loads online, some shite, some good, but what do you recommend, where can i get chain and sprockets at a reasonable price, i don't mind ordering separately or buying a set, but i don't want some cheapo elastic band chain or chocolate sprockets

same with the bearings, seen some on wemoto and motorcycle products but can't help thinking a £6 bearing aint gonna last long, i would normal use Ashley Bearings cos there local, but just wondering who everyone else uses and are they any good

OE bearings if you can. Other than that there's a seller on eBay called AllBalls (IIRC) who sells good quality bearings.

I go to B+C Express for chain and sprokets

Couldn't tell you about bearings but it would interesting to know where some "better quality" ones are to be had. You could ask Dymag what they'd recomend (they're in UK), BST use ceramic bearings maybe their suppliers know where to get replacements

I get wheel bearings from Simply Bearings or Bearing Boys, they supply quality (SKF/NSK/FAG) bearings at good prices. I get 520 Renthal MX chains from ebay and 520 sprockets from B&C Express and you can get your chain and sprockets for under £80 doing it this way. The MX chains are fine on a 600 engine ;)

I don't know if this link will work or not-

You can pay OE prices if you like though...

I so want some of those ceramic bearings. Went over to Whitey's last weekend and he had a BST wheel up on the bench with said bearings. He laid it on it's side and gave it a gentle spin - one cup of tea and cig later and it was still going.

Blimey, I just checked the price of ceramic bearings  You can get them on Amazon.

Yeah I know they're expensive ... and then some but they're also half the weight and as Phill said their rolling inertia is very low.

Just to add to my previous comment, Mark told me Tim Radley (Race Developments) had been experimenting with using them within engines, as well as for wheel bearings. Dyno result was an increase of 7 rwbhp, with no other changes made to the engine. That's not a bad improvement, providing you can stomach the cost.
