For racing, I'd stick with the 10/40. Rumours are that 10/30 will cause clutch slippage and in racing that'll be more evident than anywhere else.

Saying that though, Stevie put 10/30 in the K8, Ricky put the same in his K7 and Honda manuals are now saying that Castrol 10/30 is the oil of choice for the latest fleet of machines.

Its for the road bike im building so i think i'll run with it and stick in an extra spring washer as im using a hydaulic clutch.

Solves that then.

Off topic - how do you like the hydraulic clutch? Is it off an nc24? Does it give less lever effort or just better feel?

Dunno yet im still building the bike. Its an nc24 sprocket cover and slave, firestorm m/c and a pushrod from 95 vfr750 shortend to suit. Im using this set up for two reasons.
1st is im building a race rep of hukrc rc45
2nd is after i smashed my lower left arm and hand i get cramps when on the clutch alot so the hydraulic system is as you say a lighter action than a cable.
Also there is no adjusting( either it works or it dosn't), as for feel! I'll let you know.

Hi, as long as it not car fully synth oil it be fine. Im running both my nc30 and fzr400 on fully synth castrol bike oil and have no clutch problems, and makes the nc soooo much smoother aswell.
Cheers

Even some 'high end' semi-synth car stuff has friction modifiers in it.

I run Honda Ultra S9 in my NC30 and I didn't realise until recently it's fully synth too.

Yeah i have read about modifiers before, i always use motorcycle oil.
It was the weight/velocity i wasn't sure about. ;)
