hi all
i took the bike for a rip today, as ive got a job interview tomoz so i thought i would go fill the bike up ready ,
started the bike left the petrol station went home after a half hour rip and stoped turned the bike off
, bout 20 mins later went to put the bike in the shed and went to start the bike but it wont turn over and it clicks once when you push the starter button and then makes the clicky noise you get from a low battery .
but its a brand new battery and new reg/rec and the alternater has just been checked and new conecter blocks fited , before any one asks no ive not got a muti meter at home as its round a mates at mo , so cant check it , but was more after ideas / what to check when i get my muti meter back , could it be the starter motor gone , could it be a fuse gone , etc ,
i just cant work it out , one min all good next nothing
cheers sam

If electrics are good then fuel supply? Kinked/perished hose or clogged-up breather hose?

I know you say it's a new battery,
But i think it's what the problem is.

cheers guys for the replys ,
think ive narrowed it down to the starter motor as earlier after putting the post up i took the starter off and earthed it to the frame and then tryed the starter button , nothing , then i gave rick a buzz and after specking to him he surggested the starter motor ,
so i took it apart all seem to be fine , gave it a clean put it back to gether and then earthed it to the frame again and tryed the starter button and the starter motor was spining/working so put back on bike and all is working so ,
im a bit confused

. any ideas
cheers sam

check the connection to your reg/rec if not pushed in correctly it causes a arc between the pins burning it out killing the battery. check the plug
sounds daft but check your battery cables arent broken or fraying check all your cables and connections in ya charging system.
then lastly check your genie could have burnt out or wire snapped anywho hope this helps

Double checking the electrical system won't hurt when you get your multimeter back.
Check batt voltage and output at idle and 5000rpm on battery.
When a startmotor jam's you'll get a click like that. Could just be that.
If you get it again (after checking electrical system again) check batt voltage with engine off.. if it's good (12.6v +) then you probably have a failing starter motor.

Also check to make sure the cylinders haven't flooded full. That will also give the impression of a seized starter

right, since taking the starter motor apart last night and puting it back on the bike its been working fine and bike starts first time now and been out today for a rip and not a prob ,
i also went all over the electrics today as got my muti meter and all checked out good as i thought it would ,
so what would cause the starter motor to jam like that is it just down to old age or loose/poor connection , as seems a bit weird that after taking it apart and cleaning it, then puting it back together and on bike it works
thanks for replys and ideas guys
cheers sam
