If you take them apart you will never get them on,
They fit as one unit.Just remove the complete airbox, fit carbs, then refit airbox.

you mean like the base plate where the velocity stacks come through?
I have everything else off, and can get the back 2 on the rubbers, just cant get the fronts within about a cm of where they should be :S

Getting them back on isn't the easiest job first time around.

There's a bit of a knack to it, check out the carb jetting document here for a pointer:
http://www.400greybike.com/docs.htm

If the carb rubbers are the original ones then it might be impossible to get the carbs back on, but give it a good try first.

I all honesty, I found it easier to put NC24 carbs back on than any other V4 I've worked on. A rubber mallet helps immensely. Oh, and slacken off all the clamps so the rubbers can move a little :peace:

I think i'll soak the rubbers in petrol tonight, seems like a plan.

Where are you based? I'd be happy to help if you're not too far away.

Why soak them in petrol?

Better idea is to get them warm and pliable, rather than stinking of fuel and rank.

I normally get them in to a dush with some boiling water and by the time I've strolled to the garage and got them fitted and clamps on, they are nice and pliable.

small dab of grease and a large dose of brute strength and technique..they'll be on
