				NC35 Question

				Hi Everyone.
I'm new here!
Few days ago got myself 1996 RVF400 NC35. I will be partially rebuilding the bike but need some help from you...
Would any of you know if parts like suspension (front and rear), final drive, radiators, etc. are interchangeable with other Hondas 400cc? Like cbr400 (baby blade) or VFR400?
RVF specific parts are hard to find...
I would appreciate your comments!

				where abouts are you from?
if you are here in the UK, there wont be a problem, plenty of NC35, new and used parts flying about.
Try
http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/
http://www.jap4performance.com/
http://www.wemoto.com/
not forgetting ebay
the for sale and wanted section on this site, from which you will find some breakers on also, not to mention members such as rick oliver and graeme france
there are many interchangable parts between the nc30 and nc35, nothing really worth mentioning from the other models, just name exactly what it is you are looking?
get some pics up of the bike for us to perv on when you can :D .

An excellent choice :)
Rear suspension is interchangeable with the VFR400R NC30
but the NC30 has a shorter shock as standard, front suspension, no.
Lower rad is same as the NC30, top is same size/shape but very slightly different, could probably be made to fit.
Front sprockets are the same on NC29,NC30 and NC35, rear sprockets are the same type but different number of teeth as standard on NC30.
Lots of the bits do fit or can be made to fit, for example our track bike is an NC35 with the following NC30 bits:
Fairing (NC35 style)
Rear Subframe
Tank
Rear seat/bodywork (NC35 style)
Tacho (in NC35 clocks)
CDI
Ign pickup
Wiring loom
Exhaust
Carbs
Wheels
Front discs
Rearsets
Rear brake mc/caliper
The reason quite so many bits are NC30 is because it was bought as an NC30 track bike with an NC35 engine, along with most of the NC35 the engine came from and I rebuilt it as an NC35.

Thanks for your replies.
Here are some pics. Tell me what you think, let me know your suggestions.

The parts I'm interested in are:
Fork legs
Rear shock
Sprockets and chain
Upper rad
Complete fairing
Set of original bolts
I'm in the UK and when i do a search for rvf400 not many parts come up, I guess I should look for VFR400 parts as well?
Also I got the chain tool and wanted to adjust the chain but have no idea how...
Tomorrow I'm planning to sync the carbs and maybe clean the engine where I can. What should I pay attention to in terms of engine maintenance? It is a 13 years old bike and I want it perfect :)

First thing is to lose those horrendous grab rails!

Otherwise, looks like a good starting point.

she is in very good nick indeed.
i would def change the wheel colour and powder coat it black or white depending on what colour scheme you are going for, if staying standard 30 or 35 colours

Fork legs (stick with 35s since you have em. never heard of a 35 to 30 fork leg conversion. though its best to upgrade the springs, depending if you want progressive or linear go maxton or rick oliver(on site) respectively)
Rear shock (standard 30 and 35 are interchangable, though i would upgrade to an aftermarket height adjustable one)
Sprockets and chain (share same sprockets and chain, though dif teeth and chain length, 35 is 15/38 - 102 links 525 chain, 30 is 15/40 104 links 525 chain standard, i think)
Upper rad (not sure about top rad, think only bottom interchanable)
Complete fairing (just the lowers with V piece interchangable, uppers and mids need too much modding, and tail needs a modded 30 subframe me thinks)
Set of original bolts (check with honda, should be able to get em new. new stainless sets knocking about ebay)
I'm in the UK and when i do a search for rvf400 not many parts come up, I guess I should look for VFR400 parts as well?
Also I got the chain tool and wanted to adjust the chain but have no idea how... (17mm pince bolt on rear of hub, slacken and you find the teeth for adjustment on right of hub before disk)
Tomorrow I'm planning to sync the carbs and maybe clean the engine where I can. What should I pay attention to in terms of engine maintenance? It is a 13 years old bike and I want it perfect :) (could always go for a full service, oil and filter and coolant and bleed brakes defo, would check air filter and plugs, decide from there. but most important is the valve clearances, if they are out you feck up your engine big stylie)

Yea, the fairing is different (some track crap) I'll be replacing it. I want the bike to look original.
Just got the new oil in the forks. They are upside down and I dont know how to let the air out...
