I recently got myself a nc24 as a project, im struggling to get it started though, she fires when i put fuel in the top of the carbs, but trying to run it through the fuel line doesn't really work, its blocked almost.
I am very new to these bikes so any advice/help would be much appreciated.
Sam.

The fuel tap is vaccum operated.

There should be a small thin pipe that runs from the left rear cylinder (just hidden behind the frame) to the fuel tap.

If this is split / broke or missing then fuel will not flow

I did try bloweing down the fuel pipe whilst trying to start it, not sure if my smokey lung would be enough pressure for it, i shall go and have a look now and let you know, thanks :)

found the pipe, and got it hooked up. still no joy :( petrol seems to be leaking a little out of the side of the tap as well, so i guess it may be blocked?

Ah.

If it's leaking the tap could be knackered.

Theres a rubber diaphram inside that is sucked open. if the diaphram splits, petrol will leak and the tap won't open.

Did you connect the vaccum pipe to teh right nipple.. there are two on the tap.. it's the outside one.

If you want to isolate the fuel-tap.

Get a coke bottle etc and connect it upto your fuel line.. use it as a temporary tank.

Full choke / no throttle and it should run.

Teh tap comes apart with screws so you can inspect the rubber diaphram

i had the tap apart, the diaphragm is good in it, its leaking out the opposite side, from where the tap function is....
I,v had the carbs off this evening and given them a good clean all the jets were blocked and valve stuck on 2. now all sorted, but still nothing :(

I can get it running with carb cleaner and fuel in the top of the carbs now.

I noticed its not taking any fuel down the fuel line though.....any suggestions.

I had the cabs off and cleaned the needles and jets, did i miss anything?
