Firsty - don't do it.
Doing it yourself takes a f'king age and it doesn't look as good as you think it will.
Secondly - strip eveything off the frame and send it to a polisher. It might sound expensive but ... Doing it yourself takes a f'king age and it doesn't look as good as you think it will , it's worth every penny you pay.
Having said that .... get as much off the frame as you can including the front end. Mask up everything except the frame rail. Try some paint stripper and a scraper to take off the anodising (wear gloves !!!) - if this doesn't work your going to need a sander (wear goggles a mask and earplugs) try a meduim grit first and only use coarse if this doesn't work. Go over it with fine grade sander and then wet and dry keep it wet. Go to the finest wet and dry you can hopefully 2000 by hand. Finally use a mop on a drill with metal polish (you can get a kit for £10) it gives a better longer lasting quicker shine than using autosol.

I've done it in the past. It's a pain in the arse to remove the anodising(?) and to polish to a mirror shine; and even more irritating trying to maintain its finish. Plus in retrospect, it looked a bit shit on a race rep...
Imo it's something that's best left back in the 90's.

If it's what you want then go for it
but as most peeps have said, it's just an ongoing job of endless polishing and you'll end up hating it.
the standard frame, well washed and polished (ie a good clean with detergent then wax and buff) looks pretty damn good and is easy to maintain
if you do go for the full polish get it done pro, it'll cost more but you get the best result

I have my frame and swinging arm done and working on the rims now ...
Looks good in my eyes ,plan is for a nice black gloss on the body work and some cool decals ..
Its all about what you think if you like it thats the main thing...
And as for keeping it looking good ,a hour or 2 at the weekend will keep it in top condition.
Its like anything once its kept right it's easy to maintain..

The best thing to remove the anodizing is a few applications of oven cleaner.
The brushed ally looks much better though.
