Help respray nightmare - colours are wrong!

Just dropped round to check out my NC29 fairings.

They are looking damn good. All sanded down, fixed and primed to go.

They are being resprayed in the TYPE 8 Black and Red.

But the code for the black NH-343P - is wrong - according to the guys this is a red colour?

The red R203M is fine.

I have taken the codes from the info page on this site.

Colour: Sparkle Pearl Black/Procyon Red ( NH-343P / R-203M )

Type 8 supplementary colours. The letter code matches the position printed in the fiche. A ? means unknown code or perhaps a decal.

A NH343P Pearl Sparkle Black
B R203M Procyon Red Metallic

C R203M Procyon Red Metallic
D NH343P Pearl Sparkle Black
E ? Decal
F NH1 Black
G R203M Procyon Red Metallic
H NH1 Black
J ? Decal colour (Graduated E/C)

They have a full wad of samples, and said just pick a black but I want it to look right.

Any other way of finding out the correct paint code for the black on the bike. Or another Honda in the same colour and cross reference with that.

HELP What am I doing wrong!

You mentioned in another thread the guy painting your fairings is using water based paints yes? It highly unlikely colours as old as those used on NC's have'nt been formulated in water base so that's why the codes are wrong. Its the same story everytime I give a colour code from a old bike to my paint supplier, he always manages to sort it for me tho but I use solvent paints rather than water base.

That may explain the problem.

Is there another black similiar to the NH-343P Pearl Sparkle or will I have to just go with what they suggest.

I really like the black and red combo, and wanted it to look original - so didnt just want any plain old black.

I was put on the spot, and offered a huge ream of samples to pick from. I wasnt sure if I had given them the correct code or they had looked it up wrong.

Best thing to do is take a panel down to colour match it

Cant do Im afraid, the bike is a multi coloured with panels bought from ebay.

So dont have the original colour to go from.

From what i remember when i had a SEED coloured NSR the black was nothing special and a member on here "ibby" had NC30 resprayed in SEED colours and i dont recall that being any kind of special black either, id just go with whatever black you fancy, black is black at the end of day.

EDIT: Just done a bit of digging on RS bike paints and they list the black for the SEED NC30 so i cant see why your guy is having a problem, http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/colour ... cheme=5564

Im pretty sure the code is right. This was checked on the fiche and several Honda colour code sites and I took care as I knew if I was wrong it could cause mayhem.

I do know I had to take a sample to a painter for my tank as his colour swatch book had a totally wrong nh196 in it and if he had used that it would have came out a yellow sandy colour. Mind you he still Fkd it.. I would do as DM says or perhaps buy your paint from RS who are the closest you will get without a sample.

Well its now going to be painted -

Ford Panther Black and Honda Procyn Red.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, looked thru loads of samples and they all looked the same to me.

Took their advice as running out of time as they wanted to spray and lacquer today, then paint the tank with the red tommorow.
