Oil & Filter Change?

Dumb question, so I apologise in advance!
I'm waiting on a new filter & oil & am going to replace them next week once I get them.
Is there anything that I should take note of or does the Haynes cover all I will need to know?
The last 2 jobs I have attempted on the bike have all gone horribly wrong & I don't want to mess something up again! :)

when putting on the new filter, you don't need the filter tool, just finger tight is adequate

If you have difficulty getting the oil filter off, then DO NOT stick an old screwdriver in to wiggle it off. Get a proper oil filter wrench, either adjustable, strap or fixed size.

just before you fit the new oil filter, dab your finger in to the old oil and wipe round the rubber seal on the new filter.

don't forget to screw the drain plug back on before you fill in the new oil...

All done & sorted!
Old filter was a bit of a nightmare to get off but other than that, all was good!
Thanks for all your advice! :D
