Painting crash helmets

I want to paint a crash helmet, I've heard all the horror stories about helmets dissolving and so on becuase of the solvents. This is a fibreglass helmet so with the right sort of paint will be OK but what is the right sort of paint (water based?) and where can I get some?

Incidentally the helmet is not for safety, its just to stop the wind blowing my hair out of shape while driving, vain or what!

I bought it from George Whites (Swindon) a couple of days before they went t@ts up, great shame.

I'm not sure I have posted in the right place on the forum, hope this is OK.

solvent paints wont damage the shell (it was old pollycarb helmets you had to be carefull with) but it will disolve the pollystyrene inner instantly even the fumes will you either have to take the styrene lining out or fully mask any and all holes/vents apetures ect
