3 yellow wires on right hand side of engine coming from the same sheath but 1 it red hot and burned the other 2

all insulation replaced and 1 is still hot

high resistance = loose connection or poor contact, this is from the alternator to the regulator recifier.

a common thing on these bikes which could indicate a faulty reg/rec do a search gets asked weekly here.

The 3 wires you described are from the stator, which I would say will be black, burnt and knackered. Whip the flywheel cover off and the flywheel and have a look.

i wouldnt do it after id do it now, if that fails your bike WONT run, plus youll be fucking your battery up the longer you leave it,

Those 3 yellow wires come from the generator and carry a lot of high current, which the reg/rec then drops to charge the battery.

If the wires are hot they have excess current.. this is usually a bad conenction.. they goto a spade connector block.. this gets dirty over time and causes lots of heat and melts the block.

If you repair / replace these wires they MUST be soldered and not crimped or twisted.

While your at it worth doing electrical tests on the genny output to make sure it's still in spec.

I've chopped the block connector off completely in the past and hard-soldered the wires together..

its a easy job so ill stick that on tomorrow

its the only 1 i didnt change as i ran out of crimps

ill solder all 3 aswell

luckily i have put the fairing back on
