Hey all,
Been a while since I last logged on but I've not had a 400 since June and life's been hectic.
Anyway just picked up a 1WG this morning. Just needs brake hoses and an oil & filter change and it's in an MOTable condition, although I intend it to be my race bike this year unless the GPZ fails MOT.
Main question for now is where can I get a set of S/S headers?

That's a FZR400R 1WG 3EN1 Exup
The headers drop into a collector box which hoses the exup, they're a Yamaha only part. If they're really rotten you might be able to get the headers copied and then welded to the collector. There are some companies that do replacements but they woun't have the exup, that's ok on the open road or track but not so great in town.
You might want to fit a gold kmh to mph converter box (at the wheel end of the cable), and maybe some blue spot calipers from a later Yam.

you reckon ?
It's a 3en1 if it doesn't have an exup then it should do

Fair enough but there's absolutely no trace of any EXUP gear at all anywhere.
Oh, I got a full 5EB front brake setup for £35

Better brake then - cool
Do you have the standard pipes on it ??? If they look standard but no exup they could be from a Genesis.
I guess there's no "weep, weep" noise when you turn the key, so the servo's gone .... what are the ID numbers on the CDI they should start 3EN.

The headers are mild at the mo but I've found a full system in the States for about £280 delivered so I might plump for that
Edit: Plus about £70 if Customs get their hands on it
eGay
Now you come to mention it, there is some kind of servo-esque noise when I turn the ignition on..... More investigation required methinks

ah right then .....
The USA bikes didn't get the EXUP models (well Califoria did) so their 89, 90 is the Genesis or 86 87 over here - it's all to do with them being late to each world war or something
Anyway have a look at your pipes at the collector box on the left and see if there's a chrome cover, small pulley, or odd bolt you might just have a doctored system or maybe genesis pipes on there .... post a piccy up

Righty then. You were correct Evil
It is a 3EN1 according to the big Y. Imported into the UK from Japan in 1999. It's apparently on their main dealer system as a bike they've worked on in the past. It should have an EXUP according to them.
