Been stripping my brake calipers today

I have been cleaning up a couple of sets of NC30 brake calipers today. All looking good so far but cant get some of the pistons out for the life of me so going to have to take to a garage tomorrow and ask them to blow them out with some compressed air.
Going to give them a fresh coat of paint and new seals all round and fit with braided lines and new pads.
Fiddly, time consuming but very satisfying work.

Just hope I can get all the pistons out tomorrow... Called a couple of bike shops today and neither of them seemed particullay willing ot elp me. one wanted to charge around £20 a caliper! cheeky gets- its 10 seconds with some compressed air...Got another one near by, will pop down tomorrow and see if they'll do it for a tenner for the lot.

That's what I do.
Use some thick cardboard or a rag between the jaws and the piston to prevent any surface damage.

you can do it without even leaving the house / shed. hook up the master to calliper and let it do its job.
I need to do mine shortly RVF and RGV, 20x pistons in all :/ If you were not so far I would invite you over for a cuppa and the use of my compressor

As above just make sure you put something between the pistons so they are near damn it all the way out and POP!

Tried it, cant get enough purchase on the piston even with mole grips/padding.
I'll see what the garage can do for me today.

All sorted, local garage did it for me.
All pistons are out and cleaned up nicely - Anyone know if they are teflon coated?
Caliper bores have been cleaned up and the outsides are ready for a coat of paint (Hammerite gold smooth spray paint)
Once thats done it's over to Rick O for a set of new seals alround and then refit the lot to the bike with new pads and some braided lines . Should be good as the day it rolled out the factory
