Damn NC30 throttle.

Been having trouble with my NC30's throttle ever since I installed a restrictor kit into it a few days ago.

I got the kit in with much struggling and swearing, but when I tested the throttle after re-linking it back up the damn thing wouldn't roll back. So I got on here and asked and got some advice and (not to my knowledge) temporarily sorted it. Happy it was behaving I left the bike alone for the night then went back in the morning to fit the fairings back on only to find when I started the bike up just to have a listen to it the throttle wasn't rolling back again.

So now the bikes back in pieces and I'm very p****d off.

I've ordered some new throttle cables because the old ones were not in the best condition anyway.
But if somebody could explain how they should be routed that'd be great because that might have been half the problem.

What annoyed me the most was the tiny gap between the radiator and frame there is the get the throttle cables through, its just linking them round the front of the frame where I was probably going wrong.

Any thoughts ideas or even photos of proper cable routing would be a massive help.

You've just got it wrong, easily done mate..

The cables - best get a look at the fiche in the docs section of the site - run from the throttle, to in between the left hand fork and headstock, under the airbox flap gubbins and into the carbs.

It is not difficult.

It is a ballache if you rush it. These bikes are little gems. Hard to work on. Worth it to take your time.

^^^What he said.
I changed both cables on mine a few weeks ago and it feels like a new bike!!
If you need a hand, where are you, there might be a useful pair of hands near-by?!

Haha I'm near Nottingham, nowhere near Surrey I'm afraid.
An extra brain might help but unfortunately not.
Just waiting for the new cables to arrive, apparently they got dispatched today so I should hopefully get them soon :)

Shall update/rant when I get the new cables.
Hopefully I'm not ranting at cable routing etc!

Got the new cables in the post yesterday, just fitted them about 20 minutes ago and they work a treat!

The old cables are actually pretty f*cked, they put up alot of fight when moving them compared to the new ones.

So the bikes all finally back together and working a treat.

Just got one question, on the left hand side fill in panel there's a switch which looks to be added on by a previous owner. The wiring goes to the battery and other places on the bike from it, just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on what the hell it could be, because I've flicked it on and off and it doesn't seem to do a thing :|

the switch might have been installed to activate the rad fan... just a wild guess though. it could be anything! :)

Hmm might have to have a bit more investigating to see where the wires go, as I'm quite intrigued. It'd be useful to know, especially if it is the rad fan!

Cheers for the offer jetblack, might take you up on that one day!

It'd be nice to have a pillion ejector seat, get rid of the annoying girlfriend telling me I'm going too fast!
