Very few parts from the nc21/24 will fit the nc30.The nc30 was basically a complete redesign rather than a development of an earlier model

do they both run the same v4 motor and box?

it wont start and im now tempted to improve my diy skills on it trying to get it going

its £400 which is a very tempting oppertunity in my opinion

No in short. as Duncan said, totaly different bikes and nothing you can transplant between them. like trying to fit parts from a Mk1 focus to a Mk2 focus if that makes sense.
And 400 quid for something that doesn't run and probably has a rotten collector (can write the bike off) is not a bargain IMO

Thats expensive.. you can get one in good order with Tax and MOT if you shop around.. they really don't fetch a lot.

People on here have paid things like 150gbp for non running ones and even running ones I think the cheapest was a laptop and 50gbp.

My last one cost me 80gbp and a create of beer.. even had some MOT left.

And engines are different... a lot different.. cranks / pistons / top ends / heads / gearbox.

Electrical system is totally different too.

The only things you'll be able to swap are the sump and rear axle bearing.. both of which you can buy new from honda for less than 80gbp.

Then get something dirt cheap to play with to build up your mechanical skills..

A good buy is an old 60's or 70's 2 stroke moped. (not one of the popular ones like an FS1E as those fetch stupid amounts of money even for a rust box.)

An old 60s/70s/80's 50 / 125cc moped stroker will be a simple single cylinder, not a lot to mess with and easy to get your hands dirty and start tinkering.

Plus there really cheap to tax / insure if you want somethign to run to the shops etc on and parts are usually cheap / common (do research before buying one)

Can practice painting / spraying / rust removing etc and rebuilding the engine, if it's cheap it doesn't really matter if you break it so much plus it'll give you skills for when you want to restore something a little bigger more complex.

my last NC24 was procured for some assistance and an unknown half system.

I sold it to a mate for £250 - mot'd. all good...

He sold it later for £750!!

Not worth getting one for a donor..NC30s are cheap enough in bad enough states
