Does anyone know if there has been any updates on G-force's fuel injection 450 motor ? I know there are some guy on this forum that are locals to G-force so maybe u guys can share some info? I heard on another forum that they had the fuel injection system on a bike but it wasnt running yet. Anyone have any news ?

It's coming very slowly. Very, very, very slowly.
The wiring is causing the most headaches. We have had to make a completely new harness from scratch. Coming up with the connectors and the right locations and plugs and connector pins and components and sensors. It's harder than building an engine(well, says the engine builder about electronics).

I'll post p0ics of what we have so far this weekend.

I'm intrigued... That's not to say that I would ever actually consider putting fuel injection on my NC30, but I'd very much like to see the progress you're making! :)

hey thanks mike ! Well one day i will be getting a nc35 ( when i have more money) then i will be calling u guys im sure. But until then i really like to see all the progress u guys have done. Especailly since your in CA like myself. Thanks for posting

I think there could be many pluses with fuel injection so this project interests me and I appreciate the effort that this would take. I think I spent 2 frustrating days on they dyno pulling the carbs and fine tuning then putting them back on and do not much care for the process. But then I am an IT geek and a laptop interface is just easier for me.

I would think fuel economy, and ease of tuning would be the biggest pluses with perhaps other tradeoffs as minuses. Early fuel injection development actually hurt throttle response but this project is using newer and more proven technology so mostly pluses. There is also the weight factor and the complexity of more parts that could fail. Mike will you be putting some sort of FI diag LCD as part of the build?

Anywhoo, I would give it a serious look when it is available.

The idea of injection certainly tempts me, purely from a technical point of view, but thinking that I could throw some throttle bodies, sensors and an ecu together to produce a smoother output than carbs is unrealistic.

I imagine it would be far harder to adapt fuel injection to a roadbike (surging, cruise, consumption problems, variable temps, throttle feel, etc) than a racebike. Let's face it, some of the bigger manufacturers didn't get it right in the early days (triumph tt600 anyone?).

More an inconvenience than a showstopper, adapting all of the sensors to an older engine and bike would be time consuming to say the least. Mike, are you using batch fire or sequential injection (and a crank angle or cam sensor?)? Are you going to be using an alpha-n system with throttle angle sensor, etc?


I don't think there are any advantages over carbs (taking cost into account), unless you go for a full blown setup such as Mike's (along with the utterly extreme engine spec) and are trying to extract all from the capacity.

The new Honda CB400 is fuel infected. I wonder how hard it would be to try and graft that system onto a V4...?

If the Throttle bodies are like any other production street bike, I would say yes. Even my CBR954RR throttle bodies are bolted together (they are two two bodies cast into one piece, and then the "pair" bolt together to make one...) who wants to buy a new cb400 and find out?

I was very close to buying one the other week. Sadly perhaps, it was for a commuter, not a doner parts bike!

Most new honda throttle bodies are cast as pairs to save on cost.

I think it may have been GF told me on the phone one day that he was interested in the CB400 FI for the CBR400 race bikes.
