Back again.

NC24 has been running sweet for about 6 months after fitting the new R6 Reg/Rect

A couple of weeks ago I noticed some strange things - I would turn the key and no lights on panel.
This happened a couple of times when getting on the bike after leaving it at the station for the day.

Take off side panel to view battery connections - wiggle a bit - it would come back
Start bike and away no problem

Then one morning started bike - Rev Counter shot up to Max and was going mad - up and down although the bike was idling at low revs - this settled and went away

The one night had to get breakdown out to get me started - battery was low - being drained by some problem.
He checked charging all looked fine
I charged battery at home and all is fine - battery appears fine


Yesterday was the final straw - got on and started fine - Rev counter went mad again and the bike felt very strange - severe lack of power - could only ride with low revs - Main lights were fine but indicators stopped working.

Got home, when stopped the bike it just conked out - dead - no electrics - pushed into garage - measured battery - still above 12.5V - so holding charge fine
had a quick check of wiring around battery area - looks fine

It does appear to be some short somewhere which drained the battery and is now causing all sorts of weird things - I suspect the wiring at the front under fuse box - which I can't get off - screws appear to be welded tight

Just wondering if any ideas - is there any other part that might cause this fluctuation of power.
Now that it has died - should I be looking at fuses - disconnecting/connecting wires until I see some life to find the culprit - is there a preferred plan to diagnosing the electrical circuit

I had same problem.

Main 30 amp fuse was loose.. this is the one in the starter solenoid (it's the only 30a green one on the bike)

The connections had gone correded and it had worn away so was loose.. made the tacho go nuts and run dodgy.

This would be my first stop, remove the fuse, clean it up and make sure where it goes in is clean.

Next one is earths, they'll do the same, theres only 3 or 4 on the bike so make sure they are all clean and tight.

Main battery earth, connections to starter solenoid (two ones by nuts and the plug, WD40 the lot)

Theres an earth by the front coils too.

Check main fuse first, most likely culprit, especially if farting around by battery works

Took your advice, and bought some new fuses.
Fitted a new 30Amp main fuse on Saturday, quick test ride ans all appears fine. Ok again this morning (bloody freezing though)

Even though old one not completely blown, must have had some connection problems
