The guard that goes between the plastic top and the swingarm was only attached by one bolt!
What size bolts do I need to put this back on properly?
I've also picked up a tax disc holder since the previous one was stuck on the windshield and looked terrible, where's the best place to stick it and what size bolt would that need?
Would go down and measure but the bike's in a garage now and it doesnt have any lights

Thats my friends bike!
It's wearing an NC21 seat and NC21Z bellypan and lights in that picture.
Do you mean the sprocket guard? It's the silver bar you circled?
It uses 2 x 6X12 flanged bolts.

Yeah it was the first bike on google images and was from here
Only 2 bolts, the bar has 4 holes in it, one to the plastic guard, one on the top and two on the bottom.
EDIT: I just realised since i'm HOLDING the guard in my hand, i could just take it down to the shop. Not woken up yet~

microfiche and bolt sizes are all there.
It should only have one top and bottom to mount it, have a look anyway :)

Awesome, looks like 6x12 top and bottom, has two numbers for the bottom mount but they're both 6x12, the other bolt is to attach it to the plastic guard, another 6mm there too.

Was trying to start it yesterday and discovered the positive for the battery wasnt bolted on, just held there with tape! Got that fixed now, although bike still wont start...
Really shouldnt be throwing so much money/time after this bike... Off to read threads on where to look when it's not starting...

Has it been standing for a long time?
Kill switch not on is it?
Is there fuel in the tank, tap switched to 'on'
The bikes use a vaccum tap so there is a small pipe from the tank to the oustide of cylinder 1 (rear left), it's obscured by the frame but if you look behind it at the cylinder you'll see the pipe.. make sure it's connected and not split or broke back to the tank.. if its' missing you'll get no fuel.
Are you using full choke no throttle at all until it fires? Any spluttering or signs of life?
If not crack a plug out, put it in the plug lead and make sure it's touching a good earth (rockerbox bolts are good) and see if it's sparking.

Was stood for about a month, started first time the last time it was ran. Kill switch off, fuel in tank and tap on.
Will look for the pipe + sparks tonight. Have got the battery on charge but it was at 50%+ before.
Choke is on full but the actual choke lever feels very light, much less effort required than on my bandit. Tried pushing it but couldnt get anything out, although I'm not very good at bumping...
Got it started tonight, discovered after spending about 5 minutes trying to start that the choke isnt doing anything. Not sure where to start with that, broken cable or loose connections? Clutch lever is very far out and it was dying at idle once it warmed up! Where's the idle mixture on these things + any suggestions?

Bump for any info on choke replacement or where the choke actually goes. Left hand switch gear looks pretty dodgy, the clutch cable is practically falling out ;__;

Cluch cable might need adjusting? Could be over-stretched too.
It's easy enough to do, theres an adjuster by the front sprocket where the clutch lever goes into, as well as on the clutch lever.
Choke cable runs to the carbs
Follow it from the switch-gear to where it goes through the frame by the air-duct (if there not missing)
If you remove the petrol tank you'll see it, it's at the front of the carbs. It's held on by a screw and pulls a lever that opens all 4 carbs chokes.. chances are cables snapped or it's come loose.
Remove the tank and you'll soon find out.
You can see it here.. look at the carb in the front of the picture, this is the front right carb, you can see where the choke cable screws onto and then just infront of that the middle of the carbs is the choke arm that the cable pulls on.
The idle adjuster is on the carbs themselves on the 24, not a remote thread.
Left side of the bike look at the carbs, theres a little twiddley knob you can adjust.. turn it in (clockwise) to increase RPM.
Chances are if it's not idling the pilot jets are blocked up from stale fuel.
Most likely remove carbs, strip clean and rebuild, can sort the choke cable out at the same time too.
While you have the carbs off check and adjust the valve clearances, put it all back together and the bike will love you.
