Is this wheel useable?

Hi,
A guy at the local tyre fitting place though that this rim probably wasn't safe to use. It doen't look pretty, but it does still hold air and it isn't cracked. Does anyone have any thoughts on it? Obviously I'd prefer to be able to use it.

I'd take it to a pro[1] and ask.
Lets put it this way, do you want your wheel to disintergrate, potentially at high speed?

Id get it fixed for sure - punctures are bad enough, having lumps fly off your wheel and skewer the spotty scooter rider behind you would be oh so tragic!
Wuld be an easy cheap fix I imagine - DONT be tempted to belt it with a big hammer, will probably crack the rim...

Thanks everyone. I shall not be riding it until it's either fixed or replaced.
I've emailed
http://www.motoliner.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to get a quote for fixing it.

in the mean time i'd keep your eye out on ebay, there might be a cheap undamaged wheel on there

I'd smack it with a hammer mate. My Dad and I recently repaired four wheels which had flats in them, and now it's not even remotely noticable that they were ever damaged.

I'd leave well alone with any hammer and stump up the £50 motorliner charge you.

Do not hit it with the hammer!
Although it may look fine it'll be weakened and when you go over a pot hole or somethign in the road theres a greater chance a section of the wheel will break away = massive accident.
Seen it happen with a car wheel before now
