Can't Find Neutral NC30

Recently bought the bike and got it running, was in gear when I got it and went into neutral fine. Its in no condition to ride but I wanted to test the clutch so I went in to gear when cold and now can't find neutral. It wont even start in gear because the clutch doesn't seem to pull all the way so bike pulls very lightly when turning over. I rocked this mthrfckr back and forth till I started sweating with no luck, neutral light doesn't even flash when going 1-2 or 2-1. I guess its probably the clutch which I will open up but thought I would get some opinions first?

its normal you have to blip the throttle upto about 8k and drop it into neutral as the revs drop.

its the joys of owning a honda :D

So if I sort the clutch out I should be able to start in gear then blip and find neutral?

Were you trying to find neutral with the engine running or shut down?

Can't get the engine to start because the clutch wont fully grip, adjusted cable as tight as possible still bike pulls slightly when trying to start, and wont start. So yes been trying to find neutral with the engine shut down. I could probably bump start then get neutral but I would be starting it for no reason because I obviously need to look at the clutch. Also going to rejet and check valve clearances so maybe I should leave it for now.

Should be able to find neutral with engine off and rocking the bike back and forth as you said. Might be worth a look at the gear shift cam and mechanism. It is externally accessible under a cover where the gear selector shaft enters the crankcase.

Mine only starts in neutral, which I thought must've been normal for nc30's :| so now I'm gutted as u've raised me another bloody problem to sort over winter! Lol
And I can hardly ever get neutral when it's running so if I ever wanna stop and hop off for a second I always have to turn her off.
Doesn't cause any major issues, just got used to it but if u find and easy fix let me know!!

just use your hand on't gear lever - you can feel the lighter pull needed to get it into neutral.

There is a knack to it..

Gear lever is broken so I can only use my hand and if I try leave it between 1 and 2 it just clicks out when I move the bike and I don't see the light come even if I leave it between. Clutch must have serious issues.
