Hi all.

Came to start the bike for work the other day, the battery was flat so i push started the bike.

Got to work (10 miles so thought the battery would be charged) and when i came to go home it was flat agian.

So the charging system is working im presuming as the bike runs.

I put the bike onto my battery reviver and when i came to it next day it was totally flat.

just want to clarify that this should be the battery and not the rectifier (just thought rectifier as i got that high end missfire too)

thanks

Richard

I agree, if you can bump start the bike the charging system is working and I would suspect the battery. A bad battery will affect the overall electrical system, confuses the rect/reg and could be responsible for odd things like a high end misfire. Can you measure the battery voltage with the engine running, should get 13-14 volts. Also the voltage from a good fully charged battery should not drop below 10 volts when you press the starter.

I'll wager the reg/rec has gone and it's taken the battery with it

Why not start with the battery. If it will not take a charger from your charger (reviver?) then I would think it to be the first problem. With the engine running, a check of the voltage at the battery terminals will tell you if the charging system is working ok.
