RVF forks into an NC24??

I appreciate this may seem a bit random but hey - Ive done worse... (RD250DX with a YZ490 MX motor?? Wheelie nice!! :D )
Not overhappy with the 16" wheelette on the front of my '24 - doesnt feel planted and getting decent modern sticky rubber is gong to be a Mare, the brakes are mmmmm...adequete, the forks dive like an MX bike...so change the front end....
Am liking the look of the usd's on the RVF - has anyone attempted a swap before??
Not worried about the wheels not matching as the standard front and rear wheels are different designs anyway!

Nothings impossible but if the NC24 compared to the NC35 is anything like the RC24 compared to the RC36 then it's going to be a mare.
For example the RC24 has *far* longer forks than the later bikes and a much longer headstock. You may find the bars sit wrong too. I'm planning on fitting an 2001 R1 frontend to my 'project' as it's has just about the longest modern USD setup (and still shorter than stock).
On my SV I ran into dificulties with the forks being far wider and fouling plus the lockstops being in a totally different place.
You do have the advantage that the upper bearing is the same between the NC24 and NC35 but the lower bearing is different, don't know how different only that it's different.
Measure the distance between the wheel spindle and the top yoke and between the top and bottom yoke, then post them up here and either I'll measure one of ours next time I'm out in the garage or someone else can.

Will do! May have to drop the front wheel out of my girls NC23 and see how that fits in the NC24's forks?? Would mean bigger discs (caliper swap??) and possibly moving the mudguard??
Hmmmm...

If all you want is a 17" front, it would probably be just as cheap to buy a tatty nc30 for the same price as an rvf front end.

Have to agree there. RVF forks go for quite serious money, then by the time you've figured in a mudguard, wheel, discs, calipers, yokes and bars you're looking at a lot of dosh.

or get a zxr400 frontend, far far cheaper, has been fitted to a number of NC-30's (i've no idea how though), so likely as doable as the rvf front, and will give you USD's with 300mm/310mm* discs and a 17 inch front wheel.
three types, H1, H2 and L.
H forks are longer, the yokes have a longer stem, and they use the smaller (300mm) discs
H2 and L use the same headstock bearings, H1's use smaller bearings (and have different adjusters on the top)

Would an NC30 wheel bolt into a pair of NC24 forks?? Would have the bigger discs to contend with....

Dunno, give us dimensions.
Remove the front wheel, measure.
1) Spindle diameter
2) Distance between fork bottoms.
Failing that, ask nicely and nip round to visit someone with an NC30/35 and give it a go. :D

It doesn't work. The NC24 forks are always soft.
Whats wrong with the 16" wheel? Apart from decent rubber it makes it corner easy!
I have a thread I started a couple of weeks ago as i'm changing the front and rear wheels to 17" as i'm turning my NC24 into a track bike and some trackday rubber would be appreciated!
Get an RC36 (VFR750) front / rear wheel,
120/70/17 (3.5") wheel.
160/60/17 (5.0") wheel
you'll need spacers for the front and to move the calipers slightly.
rear wheel fits but you'll have to do something with the link pipe.

I forgot about the VFR750?? (doh)
Do you have the wheels on the bike?? Would be v.interested in seeing some pics....
