CBR400s with the FireBlade logo

I know this is probably an age old question and I promise I searched for it first, but what was the deal with CBR400s and the FireBlade sticker?

I'm convinced that the FireBlade logo was never original and was added by people wanting to make their 400 look like a 'Blade, but another bloke I know reckons the 400s were factory shipped with the FireBlade logo present. If they were, that would have been a huge brand faux pas by Honda.

Anyone know for sure either way?

why would it have been a faux par??

It is what it is a 400cc fireblade. Fireblade itself means nothing its just a CBR at the end of the day

Did they sell the blade in japan?

It makes sense that they put the blade logo on the 400, it would have increased their sales. And... if you compare the bikes, ignoring the engine size, there isnt that much difference between the 400 and the 900.

Someone correct me if Im wrong - but didnt the 400 come out before the 900?? My Girlies 1989 NC23 has 'Blade stickers from standard, the N reg NC29 at work today did to??

**EDIT** The 900 Fireblade was released in March, 1992... ;)

I do however agree that the sticker can turn out to be a bit of a mistruth when you - for example - get a Gixxer pull up next to you at the lights and Do You Royally - then tell all his mates he did a 'Blade.....

My 400 is a 1990 RRK and it doesnt have the fireblade stickers on it. Its not got the hurricane decal either. I thought it was the later nc29's that had the blade sticker.

The blade did indeed come out in '92. wouldnt you just love to have a J reg one in really good condition. :D

Does the blokey on the gixxer at the lights matter? he probably also tells his mates that he can wheelie at 150mph. :)

well you would wouldnt you...the fireblade was ground breaking so if you had an NC23 why wouldnt you stick firblade stickers on it.

although it makes no reference to the Hurricane only the NC23 Aero which was the one that came before the NC23 triarm but also known as the NC23 the following Wiki page will answer most of your questions.

Does he actually HAVE any mates?? lol

I remember when the 'Blades came out... Like the ZXR750 H2 I think that they lost their edge after the first remodels - the first ones were the best.... :D
