NC29 Battery Charging

I go abroad frequently for periods of 2 months. I always disconnect the battery when I am away, and put it on charge for a night when I return. Just lately I have noticed that by morning the battery casing is quite hot to the touch. The battery is a Sprint Power-Max YTX7L-BS, and it charges at between 1 and 1.5 amps, and seems to hold the charge OK. I don't know how old it is, and I'm a bit concerned about this heating bit. Has anyone else had the same experience, and is it a sign that it's time for a replacement?
