I have a yamamoto 3/4 system, Graeme france carbon end can with baffle, ram air and no quitening gears. I have tested the noise level and with the baffle it is running at 103 dB's and without the baffle its 107dB's
I had a standard system with a micron race can and that was doing 102dB's
I am guessing the noise level is down to the quietning gears and not running the foam on the inside of the fairing and under the tank. I was hoping to do streetstock aswell next year but i am never going to get past the scruts with 103dB's
Has anyone had to deal with this before?
Any advice much appreciated

The quitening gears only take up slack in the valve train, they shouldn't change the exhaust noise, neither should removing the foam under the tank, I believe this is only to insulate from heat.

Maybe just loud cans.. get a quieter can :D

Having the same sort of problems. The bike was always 102db with a TSR half system and Micron can but since ive removed the Quitening gears and running open carbs it was at 106db last out at Oulton
Ive put in a db killer and that has taken it down to 102db again but i swear its not as fast and is restricting it alot.
Running the open carbs has really changed the exhaust note around the 8 grand mark on mine where they want the revs to be when noise testing.

Removing the gears makes no difference to the db,but more air in is more noise out.
try a different baffle.

Thanks for teh replies, i have re-made a JMCA carbon kevlar endcan that i had with the yamamoto, this one has a narrow 1 1/4" section about half way through and almost to teh outlet. I am guessing this may help.
If i cant get it down below the 98dB limit i will just have to forfeit teh points from the streetstock
Still the more tracktime i can get teh better.
