Hiya All,

RE:Rear Brake light not coming on, when using Foot Lever - help

Hope you can advise where i start with this issue.

1992 NC29.

Brake Light comes on - with hand brake lever, but not the foot lever.
The Foot lever use to be pretty unresponsive - you would have to stamp down hard for it to come on. but its given up the ghost now.

3 questions:

Q1) If it was a fuse, I take it the hand brake lever wouldn't work either? So is it a Brake switch somewhere?
Q2) Where do I start the troubleshooting?
Q3) How can I test each bit, before buying bits from Ebay?

Hope you can advise

Cheers
Martin

The front and rear brake switches are 2 different switches. The front is by the brake lever.
If you're running standard rearsets with the standard switch then pull off the spring and try to activate the switch by pulling the spring down. If your brake lights come on then the switch is fine and check that you have decent tension on the spring with the rearsets on. You're looking at doing the adjustments on the following part;

If you're running a banjo pressure switch then check for a loose connection. If it's not that then likely you'll have to replace the switch.

Phew not an expensive part, if it is the switch!
