How do I test my reserve without running out of fuel?

Hi just come back from another great ride but am not sure my reserve is working? I knew I was low on fuel and parked the bike on the slope leading to my garage. When I got back on and turned on the ignition I could hear the fuel pump going like the clappers just like I had no fuel. Put the switch on other position, turned pm the ignition and fuel pump was clicking the same? Anyway put switch back drove in the garage and turned off. Ignition back on just 1 click from the pump?
How does it work and how do I test it in the garage with multeter etc? It is all connected up and the switch is loose as the inner fairing is out cos I still have work to do!
Thanks

When the bike's low on fuel a switch in the tank triggers the CDI causing it to cut 1 cylinder, flicking the switch stops it. There's no Reserve as such.
You've got 3TJ tank, sender, loom, cdi and switch so it should work ... maybe.
The best thing to test it is to run out of fuel

take a small amout with you in a bottle and try to trigger it, otherwise 120 miles and fill up.

Is there any mulimeter tests I can do on this as I hate not having a "receive"j Are the fzr 600 the same as I think you can get a manual on those.
Thanks

Thanks as always, I tied a petrol can on the back seat and thought I would use the small amount left in the tank to test. 50 miles later I'm still going! Was only gonna be 10 mins! eventually it spluttered to a stop, flicked switch heard fuel pump and off I went! Result!

you always get more than you think
i used to recon on about 180 Km for a tank full as the sender was fu*ked and i didn't want to run out,
now i have a new sender fitted i got 220 km out of the first tank before reserve (taking it easy) and now average about 200 Km,
it doesn't seem to matter whether your 2-up or solo
2-up heavy & slow
1-up light and fast
