Sorry for the cross posting.
A question. Is the Bandit 400 engine the same as a GK73a? Looks very similar in the manual I'm looking at.
TIA

Like 'Mike' said fits as same casings, few minor differences, cam timing may/may not be diff, sproket cover looks diff(purly cosmetic), ignition trigger may be slightly diff (may have to swop to run original cdi, MIKE, do you know? Garyola's got one in his 73) and the front lower fairing mount is not used on the B4 so just knock out the plugs and fit your rubbers over.

Wot do you mean by dead? do you have a major mechanical problem, or is it just not running? forgot the major difference, that being you need to swop over the sump and oil pickup to allow for the differnt run of the exhausts or fit a B4 exhaust.
Chris.

hi chris ye its a major, major problem was doing about, well lets just say more than 30mph

and lost all compresion did all the usual checks all bolts tight plugs then did the only thing i could do after pushing it the 2 miles home (kicked it then went in the house and sulked) got on here and had a look for an engine. There was a few strange noises that i can remember as it rolled to a stop. Thats not the worst thing, I HAD JUST FILLED IT UP not happy.
Ye i remember reading some thing about the 73 was the only one with that sump same if you put a 71 engine in i think.
but the good news is found some on with a 73 engine, but it is handy to know these things for the future as i love the bike will be keeping it for a while
thanks for the help anthony
