RVF Headlight Low Beam problem

My headlights Low Beam stopped working today. :(
normally they will be on as soon as i turn the ignition on, but today when i got the bike out...nothing.
I still took the bike out but was wary in case they started going on and off and someone at a junction got the wrong idea and thinks im flashing them to pull out. (they didnt though)

High beam button works fine and they also come on with the pass/flash button, all my other lights are functioning fine too.
after reading up on here i have checked the fuses and checked inside both switchgears for burn or melts. they were both clean as a whistle.

can anyone give me any advice on where, what and how to check next?
all advice is appreciated.

There is a relay that provides power to the high beam circuit, do you hear a click sound from the relay located above the clutch, on UK models, or at the headlight, on import model, I believe.

Ignore comments about high beam, my mistake, the low beam relay on UK models is located behind the headlight. There is no relay for imports. If it is an import and bulbs are ok then you have a wiring investigation on your hands.

i dont beleive there were any UK models of the RVF. they were all imports.
looking at the wiring diagram, there is a headlight relay.
can anyone tell me if i bridge the black/red wire going into the relay with the blue wire going into the lights. will this tell me if the relay is knackered? (not sure if the relay actually controls Low Beam)

I need to have my eyes tested, you said RVF I saw VFR. RVF has no low beam relay, relay is for high beam. Low beam power comes directly from handle bar switch gear on the white wire. Power to the switch gear goes in on the blue/white wire. Have you checked the bulbs may be both have failed.

just checked the bulbs. both good but both are 60/55w
from what i have read, arent these supposed to be 60/35w ? (or is this just on the VFR?)
i checked the switchgear last night and it looked ok. but today in the proper light of day i am unsure...

if i run a wire from the relay (blue/white) direct to the white connection on the headlight. will this tell me it's the faulty swtichgear?

ok the problem is with the switchgear..
ran a wire from the blue/white in the switch directly to the white connection in the rear of the headlight. they came on....
I am right in thinking i need to get myself some 60/35w bulbs arent I?? or the same thing will happen again..

Thanks for all the help Maggs. i dont find it easy following electrical diagrams!!

I am not sure what RVF headlight bulbs should be but I think like VFRs that do not have a low beam relay, your RVF would be better severed with either 60/35W bulbs or you could add a relay.

My personal preference would 55/60W bulbs and a relay simply because the lighting would be better.

was this ever solved? I have the same problem and wires inside switchgear aren't perfect but still look ok

More info please. What bulbs are fitted, do you have a low beam relay. 55/60 W bulbs without a low beam relay tends to cripple the handle bar light switch. What specifically is the problem. The only reliable way to know if switch is stuffed is to disassemble it and look at the contacts.
