Hi there, first post on this forum, been reading through for a LONG time and thought it was time to get involved.

I've owned my NC for 5 years now and it's due a caliper overhaul, only to find it's gonna cost me around £400

I've read into changing out to sp1/blade and CBR RR calipers.

I was wondering what bikes have the calipers that I could use (with the rick oliver adapter) and what years they were. Also all the ancillary parts like lines and master cylinder etc.

I would appreciate any help you guys could give me

the calipers are the Nissin casting with the large ridge down the back and the 2 pins locating the pads.

CBR600FX and RR
Later Fireblades - but check as some of these are for 310mm rotors
Also SP1 and SP2

You will need a 5/8 ration mastercylinder - it makes the difference and if you are doing it at all then do it right...

what would you reccomend line wise, the 2 to 1 from the SP1 or CBR6. sorry to keep pestering you lol

Looked into the M/C's, i take it the m/c off an 03 cbr600rr would be fine. if so the lines would be standard cbr items?

That would be the right model. The silver blade calipers need 310mm rotors. The NC30 has 296mm iirc. Black or gold calipers with the step on the face of it are the ones you're after. You'll need the lines too as standard 30 lines are too short and the angle of the banjo is wrong. Any 5/8 m/c from the blades or sp's pre radial should do.

would this set up be any good, obvs needs s/s lines, but is the master cylinder ok?

cbr600f 99-06 m/c, twinline s/s braided lines for cbr600rr 03, cbr600rr 03 caplipers and rick oliver mounts.

will the lines be long enough and will the m/c be 5/8 ratio?

Sorry Hadas you are wrong. Doesn't make any difference what size rotor the calipers are meant for. I have 929 (310mm) calipers on my 918 (296mm) forks and all lines up perectly.

Also, if you get 03-4 600RR calipers you need the matching master. The calipers are bigger and the master is 11/16", not 5/8".

Biggest difference - gold calipers have alloy pistons, they last longer and are lighter and perform better than siler or black calipers, which have steel chromed pistons.

Ideally get calipers and master off same bike then they deffo match. Normally though, most fit 5/8" master, if they have 30+34 or 32+34 pistons then it is certain. The RRs are bigger and need the matching 11/16" master.

I'm certain there is a model of calipers that don't mate up completely with the 30 discs because I had a set. The disc doesn't sweep the whole of the pad area. Someone else on the forum (Mark I think) had this problem.

Hmm.

929 apparently actually had 330mm discs, yet definitely work on my bike. I wonder if the brackets just dot work well with all calipers?
