No Electricity at all!

Rode my bike on monday having refitted the carbs (pain in the backside!!) and it ran fine. Started up on wednesday evening ran it for a couple of minutes. Shut it off and went in to get my helmet came back out and nothing, not even lights on the dash!

Battery has 12.9 volts, rectifier doesn't quite check out as the haynes manual suggests but don't think that should matter, all fuses are fine, I checked the ignition switch and in the on position all pins are connected to each other? Can't think of anything else to check.

Any ideas!!

Check main fuse, it's a big 30A one concealed in the plug that goes into the solenoid. Also check that plug is er plugged in and both battery terminals are well attached.

Cheers, done that, fuse is fine, swapped it for a new one anyway, battery is well connected still nothing.

Thats very strange, as druid said the main starter solenoid fuse will kill everything but you've checked that. Battery terminals / earth lead ok?

Weird one, you should at least get something, lights / horn etc, all dead yea?

Check ign switch and connectors.

I've checked the connectors all plugged in, should the main ignition plug (three pins) all have continuity across them in any combination when the switch is in the on position?

From memory (and it may be memory of a different bike!!) one is +ve in, one is main power and one is side/tail lights.

So yes, main thing is that it changes when you turn ign on/off.

Check that there is power at one of the pins at the bike side of the connector. I've also seen power connectors fall apart where they're always on and are anywhere where they can get damp.

This for example was the power feed to the clock on my RC24

Well turns out it was the rectifier all along.

Makes sense as it provides DC current for the lights and battery when the bike is running. Gave it a tap and it is all back on. New rectifier required I think.

Where's best to get one David Silver, Honda.......

I'm off to flatten my battery!!! ;)
