hey guys, hoping someone could shed some light on this, for some reason all of a sudden, my bike popped a main fuse, which only gave me headlights, no indicators no brake lights, no clock lights, and bike went into "get home safe mode", checked my wiring at the back, taped up all wires etc so none can short from touching etc, and replaced fuse, ran fine for 2 days, then suddenly again it went :S clueless to what it is, if anyone has any idea's would be much appreciated :D thanks!

Curious as to what is "get home safe mode". You had the MAIN fuse fail or just the INDICATOR fuse fail. INDICATOR fuse makes more sense as this powers indicators, brake, instruments and the rev limiter unit. No rev limited unit would result in 5000 rpm max, aka your get home mode.

Aye, it is the instrument fuse, not your main fuse.

SOmething must be shorting out - so get your eyeballs out adn find it!

Main fuse (30amp) fail and bike stop.

Perhaps you have alternator / regulator fault putting too much power.. test battery voltage at idle and 5000rpm and go from there

Which fuse fails? Your description of the symptoms fits my scenario as supported by CMSMJ1.

its the indicator fuse im guessing then, bike wont go more than 30mph, just enough to get me home again, unsure why it keeps blowing, not changed nothing on the bike, suddenly started doing it :S that is "get home safe mode" limits the revs and speed :S so hopefully this helps guys, we cant understanding what is shorting etc, we've looked at the wires briefly though, thought we found the wires that were causing it, taped them up etc, was fine for 2 days, then suddenly the other day it went again =( luckily i was close to home

Simple question perhaps but is fuse the specified rating, 10 Amp. If fuse size ok then only suggestion is to check the wiring to the turn signal relay, front & rear brake lamp switches and throughout the instrument panel (black/red). Can you recall exactly what actions you wre performing when the fuse failied, foot or hand braking or turn indicator perhaps. Might have pinched wiring at the foot/hand brake or turn indicator switches that is shorting the circuit to frame.

Has the 180 km/h restriction been removed?

The bike will ONLY go into this mode (spark cut to 2 cylinders when over 5000 rpm) when the speedo electrics are unplugged (or something shorted in your case!). I'd suggest that is where your problem is. It could be either at the speedo end or the cdi end.

Sounds like some dodgy wiring associated with your derestriction, check that this job hasn't been bodged.

Fuse failure is the problem. It results in loss of power to the speed sensor circuit which is why the bike goes onto two cylinders above 5000 rpm, "get home mode", and other "indicator" functions. The fuse fails because it is the wrong rating or there is an intermittent load on the circuit that exceeds the OEM design. This circuit and all things connected to it are suspect & will need to be worked through to find the culprit.

hopefully gonna have a good look today, and hopefully find what's causing it to short, the problem is, when i got the bike, first time me and bro took it apart, the wiring loom had been butchered pretty bad, and even upon tidying it up a bit, its still a mess to be honest, so gonna be a ball ache this :(
