It seems that many NC30s suffer from poor or not starting after they have been stood for a while.
Mine always starts on the button hot or cold but after being stood about 5 weeks - nothing, it was cranking but no combustion so I put it on trickle charger over night as the battery sounded a bit low too.
The next morning,I tried again - cranking but not firing choke, no choke, throttle & no throttle. After a quite a few goes it started then cut out a couple of times. Eventually it did start, stuttered a bit then ran fine for the rest of the weekend......

Is there a known problem/fix?
It kind of felt like when I tried to start the bike after the carb strip (empty float bowls) - lots of cranking/starting attempts then runs/stalls a couple of times before eventually running ok.
Does the fuel evaporate leaving cranking to refill them?
I have never had a problem with other bikes when stood for a fairly short time???

Does seem to be an NC30 feature, I have found that left for a week or more they become a bit tempremental to start. I try not to panic and start looking for faults if it does not start immediately, just keep cranking with the choke on. If it does not start after 30 secs, I turn the choke off and open the throttle while cranking just to make sure it does not flood. Sometimes have to repeat process and hope battery does not go weak before it starts. As you say if they are run every couple of days there is no problem.

I can leave mine for a good 8 weeks and it will still start on the button, no throttle.

Even if it's not firing, never be tempted to crank that throttle. These bikes are to easy to wreck plugs.
Keep your finger on the button for 15 seconds, full choke no throttle. Repeat until battery get's weak. If it still doesn't start then check the plugs for fouling.

Maybe the fuel in your carbs had run out and it needed time to refil..

So it's obviously not an inherent problem for the '30s then.

It did feel like it was out of fuel but the carbs were not drained when I put it away last. When I say it felt like it was out of fuel, it went through similar motions as it did after I had stripped the carbs.

Nope mine starts fine.

Always starts with full choke and no throttle from cold. I've never left it for more than 2 months though.
