J51's or 8ZC's?

Hi all,

While I have the '30 to bits trying to find out how broken it is, I've overhauling the carbs and fitting my NC24 slides. I don't have £40 spare to buy RO needles, so need to make a choice between stock '30 or stock '24 needles (as titled) I know the J51's are longer, but don't know how that'll affect the running of the bike by mix and matching.

Any advice please?

Stick with stock, they are that length for a reason.

^^^^ If you did use the NC24 needles, because they're longer the bike will run leaner.

Pretty sure the J51's are longer  can't remember as they're in the carbs now, but know I put the J51's back in 8-)

The 8zc's are much shorter and will run very rich in nc30 carbs.

They're a similar length to the nc30 hrc needles.

Cheers Cammo, I'm running stock intake flaps, snorkel, box etc so no need for the 8ZC's  When I have more money to throw at it I'll get some of Rick O's needles and go from there :peace:

The stock NC24 set-up is awfully close to the NC30 HRC setup.

I think the NC24 runs smaller air-jets than on the NC30 though? I can't remember off-hand though.

I'd imagine without airjet correction it'd run too rich in the NC30 carbs.

I have 51a/b's in mine and it runs fine
