Carbs cleaned float heights ok no air leaks and it still idles a bit rough, it almost seems to run rich and lean in turn! Sometimes blip throttle it almost hangs on the return other times drops fine and then drps below idle and returns. Confused!

Took it for a run, seemed ok but I'm always wondering what'll happen when I come to a stop! When I got back the idle seemed high between 1500 to 2000 tried to adjust idle back and it cut out on the sidestand started again and it seemed ok

Also there was a distinct smell of petrol after I shut off

Not sure where to go now

Let me know when you sort it, sounds just like mine

Smell of petrol!? Are one or more of your carbs flooding?

I think the correct word is over-flowing if you can smell petrol.

This would be either sticky float, bad sealing float pin or leaking carbs (float bowl gasket)

Try running the bike for a minute or two and shine a torch around the carbs see if you can see any signs of fuel

Yes they've been done, just going to check for leaks

I appear to have a leaking fuel hose, I could see fuel dripping from the underside of the hose from the tank to the tee piece, not sure if its the hose or maybe fuel being pushed back and running from the tap to the lowest point of the rubber hose?

The hose seems to be preshaped so I assume its a special Honda item and I can't just get a bit from my local auto factors?

The retailing clip at thebtee piece is like a circlip, ok to change for a proper jubilee clip?

Most likely a split in the fuel hose.

You can use any as long as you get the right diameter.

The normal fuel hose clips are ok but you can use a fuel hose jubilee if you like, get it at the same time as the fuel hose

The fuel hose I have is the right ID but quite a bit larger OD, needless to say they didn't have the right size clip.

I suspect this won't cure the shite idle problem though
