NC24 Cylinder head and carbs

Hi,
I have been looking around and searching on the forum for help with removing the cylinder heads and carbs off my NC24. The carbs seem to be rock solid on the head and I cant see what is holding them on (I cant get the silver tray bit off where the rubber trumpets come through). Is there are nut somewhere holding them on?
The cylinder head also needs to come off, I assume I have to take all the cam gears ect out to get to the nuts? Which ones is it to undo? There are some normal style ones and some hex bolts in there too.
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great
Thanks

Hold up - you don't need to remove the top carb tray to get them off the engine! Best not to remove it actually. They'll most likely just be difficult to remove because of the age of the manifold rubbers, they'll be like concrete now.
Take a look at the nc30 carb jetting guide, it shows how to remove the carbs.

Most of the principles of carb removal are the same between these 2 bikes.

Thats great, thanks! I shall attempt that today. Good job I don't need to remove the tray as I fear all I would do is just round the screws off. Will prob give the carbs the once over as well to make sure they are ok.
Just to get the heads off now...

The previous owner has used screws in the exhaust stud holes and damaged them on the front cylinder and has forced a spark plug in on one of the rear ones mashing the thread on that (I was not pleased to discover this!). I have to get the heads off to have them helli coiled in the appropriate places. Figured while there off I might give them a good clean too :D

Have you checked you can get a head-gasket first?

Indeed it is a ballache. Yes I have head gaskets, the NC30 one fits the same.
Got the carbs off :D used the piece of wood technique but I couldnt get the head off so its gone the mechanic

The screws on the bottom of the carbs are soild, tried to get one open and ended up just rounding the head. Another problem that i am going to have to fix...

nope its not that, they are just so old and stuck that its mashed the metal. going to get some pliers on them and failing that cut a groove across them.
