can anybody help identify these fork sliders,

[url]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/honda-cbr400- ... 9f7b5e[url]

i thought that cbr sliders had two lugs of the same length, and vfr sliders had the lugs with differing lengths??

Im right in thinking that CBR owners used to swap the sliders from CBR ones to VFR ones so that they could use opposed piston calipers rather than sliding one??

Any help appreciated.

They are nc30 sliders. The breaker presumably took them off an nc29, which probably will mean they are nc29 forks built with nc30 lowers, I think nc30 forks as a whole assembly are shorter and wouldn't work?

Your understanding with the brakes is correct. The other more modern method is using the lowers off a firestorm, these also fit and allow newer bigger better calipers, but are not a straight swap with your existing mudguard.

Try Geoff33, he always has bits of nc lying about the place.

i believe all that varies between the nc23/29s and the 30 bottom are the brake caliper mounting points, hench why a FEW i use the term losely as im not spoken to anyone that has done it, use the 30 lowers to fit a better choice of brake calipers.

I'm now doing that exact conversion, as my sliding claipers were grotty, and I have a lovely set of NC30 brakes waiting to go on :) Picked up a set of bottoms for £15

yeah thats what im looking to do, only my conversion has been vfr to cbr400 sliders/lower forks for whatever reason prior to me buying the bike.

I wish i knew what the reason was for changing from the vfr lower forks to the CBR lower forks and brakes, seems bloody daft to me, if anybody heres of some VFR lower forks that are surplus to requirments feel free to pm me.
