Is it worth upgrading to Later NC30 forks (and rear shock)?

I have a 1989 VFR400RK

I know the early forks are damper-rod and the later ones cartridge type, they also have more adjustments.

My forks are ok and not leaking but I can get a later set in good condition fairly cheap here.

Would they be beneficial?

Also.. is the later type rear-shock with the remote resevoir any better than the shock on the RK model?

And finally need to replace the pads and over-haul the calipers.. are the Nissin pads still the best to get?

Many thanks :-)

Am running an 89 NC30 and stuck with the forks and shock. At the front have got a Rick Oliver upgrade kit and at the rear a jackup linkage. Been through and replaced the wheel+hub bearings and cleaned/greased all the linkages. Massive improvement over stock/tired.

Wicked cheers for the reply.. this isn't tired at all but I have easy access to the later forks ;)

What odes the jack up linkage do. Does it increase ride height?

Yep. Shorter linkage = Raised ride height

+1 for a more modern shock, i found the back to be much firmer and absorb better than the original rumour has it the old ones suffer from heat absorbtion, which makes them soft and floppy!

where as the newer/ Lmodel onwards with the remote resovoir are much better, can pick them up for pennies so give it a try.
