From the pics it looks like the bearing shell is still in the wheel. As far as the mashed up bit is concerned it shouldn't really matter as the spacer between the two bearings is what will be taking the load once the wheel is torqued up.

Oh yeah so it is :-) I'm fairly sure from memory there's nice little cutouts so you can use a drift to remove the bearing. It looks like in the past some ham fisted numpty has had a bad aiming experienced and butchered the cutouts. I'd just get a round file in there and tidy them up. Either way the wheel will be safe whether you make them pretty or not.

As long as the bearing still fits well, it will be fine.
Get in there and VERY LIGHTLY dress the seat to ensure the bearing can sit hard against the recess shoulder.
Dude... wheel bearing don't "just go", you always get some warning - a little knock, a grinding noise, a bit of play on fast corners, the brake lever returning further to the handlebar than before - you have to learn to listen to what your bike is telling you. A lesson I learnt the hard way through snapping a chain: the bike doesn't care when pay day is, so get whatever problems you find sorted ASAP.

when i say my bearing 'went'... what i meant is a little knocking/grinding noise started on saturday.. so the bearing had gone.
if your getting a little knock or grinding then i would describe the bearing as gone/shot. not 'on its way out' or 'nearly' gone. Their either good or they aint.
as you can see from my posts 2 and half hours later, new ones were ordered and will be fitted this evening
