Hi, its come time to replace my tyres on the nc30, ive been using Dunlop alpha 10's but just found out that they are no longer available. The bike is'nt riden often enough to worry about the milage, but grip is everything, what would you recomend as a replacement? any one tried bridgstone bt-016 hypersport tyres? Many thanks. ps. standard size wheels ie 18" rear.

The direct replacement is the Dunlop Alpha-12.

Great tyre just as much, if not, more grip than the alpha-10.

They're discontinued also.

Replacement is the BT003rs:

18" sports tyres are an endangered species, best get hold of a 17" rear wheel if you want sports tyres for the next couple of decades.

Just as a check I had a look at the Bridgestone UK website and there were 3 possible tyres for the NC30, BT016, BT021 and BT023, all in 120/60/17 Front and 160/60/18 Rears.

No BT 090, 092

Don't know how good or not the 016's, 21's or 23's are though, I'd imagine if they're Bridgestone#s they will be pretty good

local bike shop had a 18" 090 in and when i said Bridgstone had stopped making the owner seemed to think they were available in numbers.

021's replaced the venerable 020, but gave a really odd wear pattern on the front tyre. They were discontinued very rapidly after just 1 (or was it 2?) season and replaced by the 023. Do not buy old stock 021's at any price. The 023 has received decent reviews, but it's "only" a ST tyre. The 016 is getting a little long in the tooth now considering how quickly tyres have been moving on in recent years (launched March '08). They don't last long at all, but do a good job as long as they hold on for. I wouldn't be surprised if the next generation doesn't include an 18" rear.

This is collected wisdom from TheRevCounter, and mostly based on bigger bikes.

Now really is the time to get a 17" rear, before everyone is forced to get one and pries go up again.

Just seen on demon tweaks and bridgestone website that bt-016's are available in 18 inch, will these be discontinued soon? read a good review on them so pretty sure they will out perform me!
