1st you need to buy a CBR125 fuel level sensor, these will cost you £10ish[/li]

Drain and take off the tank

Find a flat spot on the underside of the tank, needs to be about 10cm long. I've used the fuel tap hole and I'm having it pointed north east if the front of the tank is north,

file the fuel tap hole, the hole needs to be very big to fit the float through it
Image

Push the float through the hole
Image

Insert it so the float points in the other side of the flat spot

spin the tank around, the float should't hit any of the tank if it does, pull it out and bend the metal bit (use your ears to detect a hit)

Get it welded down by a garage or a mate that owns one

Update soon!

Next update will be about the fuel connector.

you don't need to hack your tank open like I have, I have done this for other stupidly cool reasons.

I can't see the point myself. Just use the reserve tank and then get fuel.

Also... where are you going to fit a fuel tap? You'll be wanting one of those.

Also also... welding on fuel tanks is dangerous. You need to leave it empty for AGES to ensure any vapour has evaporated.

Mine has been empty for months now.

Not going to use a fuel tap, only a hose connector and a inline tap.

WTF? surely for a start, the fuel tap must have been placed by honda for optimum performance.

& its a good idea but far to involved for it to be viable?

Well, Maybe not for you guys who need to ride bikes!

I'm pretty much using this tank as a shell, the breather pipe is being turned into 2 stroke oil top up and the tank will have a section inside of it to house the 2 stroke oil.

The fuel tap isn't in the lowest place of the tank, so while it maybe well placed for honda, it was a good place to shove a fuel sensor i think!

If somebody tells me some vital info I'll move the sensor and drill another hole for it in a better place! :)

I see, you're using it for a special - thats different then - but for a 30' you dont need a fuel guage, everyone know how far their bike goes until reserve & then you've got the reserve, good enough for me & its part of the bike as far as im concerned.

But when you're building a special, anything goes.

it's for an NSR125 lizard, I'm sure i've seen you on nsr125.co.uk
A JC20 though, I'll post up a build log on here if you want to follow it.
At the moment, I've hit a problem in drilling stainless steel for the subframe! Cobalt bits on the way though :)

I have just been Given £1000 by my Nan though, but not a penny is going on that bike! I'm doing my test and getting a 400 like you cool cats :)

I've now welded up my fuel gauge, should work well.

I'm a bit of a rookie at welding, so at the start my welds are crap and get better the more you go to the right!

I've got some other tank stuff going on, do you guys want me to post up just the fuel tank mod or all my mods to the fuel tank?
