As per title,

Ive rebuilt a pair of early type nc30 forks - i want to upgrade the weight of the oil but dont want to go mental.

I always use silkolene fork oil & in my later type rebuilt forks, i use silkolene 10wt race oil along with hagon progressive springs & it works well.

My rebuilt early type forks are completely standard, with standard springs, so im thinking either 15wt medium, 20wt heavy standard fork oil, or 15wt race oil to stiffen them up a little.

Any opinions will be appreciated.

Stick with the 10 wt. If you go thicker youll just mess up the damping. If you want firmer do it with stiffer springs.

Yes.. standard fork oil.. as been mentioned you'll just buggar up the damping.

Thicker fork oil might help 'mask' problems in terms of feel but it will also wreck the suspesion.

The oil can't go through the dampening hole quick enough or come back quick enough! this gives a slow to react suspension.

springs are progressive in that they need more force to compress them as they compress themselves... new springs shuold improve the tired old ones, so standard 10w fork oil will keep the original damping and take the intial bounce out at the correct rate... :)
