idiots guide to fitting end can?

Is there an idiots guide posted on here somewhere? I've searched fitting + can etc

Basically I have a set of cut rear pipes, that bits easy, the link pipe and can, simple to do the collector box I have new clamps and the muffler gasket things, and new manifold copper gaskets.

Its the link and can connection that I'm more concerned about, what, if anything should be used to seal the joins?

Gum gum? silicone?

Any advice, as always, much appreciated

Ta

It should be a good, tight fit; I wear rubber-gripped mechanic's gloves to keep a tight grip on the bits when putting them together.

The link pipe and end can should each have slits cut in the end, about 1" long. These make the ends easier to 'squish' together when you clamp it all up. Make sure all of the slit is 'filled' by the inner pipe on assembly, and then cover up the slit with your exhaust clamp.

You shouldn't need a gasket or seal; in fact a smear of copper grease might make assembly a bit easier...
