If I blip the throttle with the clutch lever pulled in, I get a little thunk from the drive chain - it's as if the clutch is dragging & transmitting a bit of power still, free play at the lever is correct and all else (cable etc) seems ok...
Any ideas???

BTW , I have just returned from a 1200 mile trip to a music festival in France this w/end, bike ran a treat

Mine has this too which I am going to sort soon.

It could either be the clutch plates (steel) which are slightly warped (gotten too hot, old etc) so they are not fully disengaging from the friction plates, or the clutch basket over time becomes a bit worn so 'grips' the plates where it shouldn't and causes the friction and steel plates to slightly drag on each other.

It could be other things too but these are the main things I can think of.

Just out of interest to others here, what is the expected life of an NC30 clutch? No burnouts, wheelies, 720 degree flips etc, just normal road riding? Think mine is getting to the end of it's life.

My NC30 has done 40k miles on the original clutch and I have no problems.

Has no one else had this - I was hoping for a 'they all do that type of answer' !

I don't think that it's the clutch basket as it feels smooth & progressive as you set off/take up drive & surely warped disks would also give some strange symptoms during use???

Yup, mine does it too.
I was going to post on this subject but was waiting to see if it stopped when I got more used to the bike.

Not sure about the posing ! I've ridden bikes on and off road for over 30 years and as far as I remember it used to help with the gear changes, especially going down through the gears, you don't get that big clunk.

All of mine do it - It is not a problem
