R&G crash bungs - NC30

Hey all,
Been looking at some R&G crash bungs from my racebike and there are 2 types:- cut the fairings and don't cut the fairings!
Since it is a racebike, I'm not fussed about cutting holes in the fairings, but what I am curious is how the two designs differ and therefore is one more effective than the other?
The non-fairing cut bungs are about twice the price of the cut ones, so I'm just wondering if that cost is just to save you from cutting them or if it also reflects a newer/better design?
Thanks
Luke
